The Gaire Primary School is leading PNG into the Internet Age with the first deployment of XO laptops from One Laptop Per Child in Oceania. While only 45 minutes from Papua New Guinea's capital Port Moresby, it was a century removed from the world - until now:
The XO deployment, with the technical assistance of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, combines with the Pacific Rural Internet Connectivity System to bring the world to these once-remote children.
Actually, this is a relatively old pilot.
We have revisited the site after 6 months and things are progressing very well.
The children, teacher and parents are still enthusiastic and doing great things
We are waiting to deliver laptops for all children at the school (only Grade 3 have them so far)
