Have you recieved your G1G1 OLPC yet?

I have not received mine yet, and I am looking here in hopes to find out more information about how they are delivered, emails beforehand etc.  Does anyone have theirs yet?  I do realized that I probably would not be looking here if I had mine, as I would be spending all my time playing with it.

So far, I think OLPC is using Santa's elves.  XO laptops just appear on dorrsteps, no emails or notificatrion beforehand.  Good luck!

Yes, that is what I have been reading about.  I bought mine around 8:00 AM Central time on the first day they went on sale.  My only fear is I will not be at my work office when they deliver it.  Hopefully no one will recognize the XO printed box if it is sitting outside.

Day one donor - XO RECEIVED 12/21

December 13, 2007, 09:41:39 PM

I am a first day donor via website.  No news yet, but to be fair OLPC is not technically late.  I believe their last day for day one donors is Dec. 24th.  Be patient.  Good things come to those who wait.

Wait, What? Why are we talking about late? The deliveries shouldn't have officially started yet... anyone who reads the site (or has read) will see that the official XO distribution starts.... Today! (according to the time zone on the forum...)

First day a min before it was supposed to start. I have a feeling mine will be sitting all day in the 27 degree with snow tomorrow afternoon forecast for here in WI. How liable is FedEx when they leave things outside your house?

Mine came this morning (the 13th) via FedEx Ground.  No notification at all beforehand and no signature required.  I ordered it via the internet about half an hour after the official opening time.  I'm in the southern part of Illinois and it was shipped from Libertyville, Illinois, in the northern part of the state.

Carol,

Thanks for your info.  I know that officially we have just now entered the beginning of the delivery period so I guess I'll have to be a little patient.

Does anyone know if we could track to our addresses if we had the Shipper # from UPS?  The first like 10 numbers of a package number contains the shipping preferences and the Shipper ID.  I was wondering if anyone who receives via UPS could post the first half of the # and maybe someone could try calling up UPS and asking to track something from the specific shipper to their address.  Just a thought.

The early arrivals have all come by FedEx so far? I wonder if those that show up inside the 13th-24th window will come by UPS?

A very good point - this can be done with very good success - works for Woot.com when they do shipping via FedEx

Call FedEx Ground (see that thread for the number).  I called and gave them my address.  They said a package from Brightstar (the OLPC distributor) should arrive tomorrow.  FYI, I signed up online on Nov 12th.

Day 3 doner here.
I ordered it on the morning of the 14th, and just received it this evening.  No email notification, not even a ring of the doorbell.  I wouldn't even had known it was sitting out there if my stepson hadn't gone outside.
Quite a bit earlier than expected for a day 3 doner.
I'm assuming since they're building them in bulk, that the majority of the early doners (first week) should probably get theirs before Christmas.

It's a tiny little box, with a tiny little laptop.  Perfect for my 5 year old. Smiley

Doh!  What was the point of getting up in the middle of the night and using PayPal if ordering on the first day doesn't make a difference?  Congrats to all you lucky folk who have been visited by the OLPC elves already.

Well. considering people who ordered as late as the third day are already getting theirs before those of us who woke up before the butt crack of dawn to order them because we were told they were going to be shipped first come, first served who haven't gotten even shipping notices is a little frustrating in my opinion.
