Full Screen Photo Slideshow on XO?

This is an issue that is not at all related to the purpose for which the XO was designed.

I am an artist currently in the process of putting together my first solo exhibition. I made digitally designed plastic jewelry and objects mostly. And, as a part of this exhibition, I have made an effort to show my design and production process through drawings, photographs, animated renderings, and concept boards. I have decided to show some of these things digitally (though obviously the animation kind of has to be shown on a monitor anyway). So I designed this frame, into which I am housing a 7" LCD monitor:

But one screen is not enough, I don't want to have two of the same screen, and do not want to use a normal laptop of desktop with LCD display. I would like to use my XO, which I believe is complementary to my work, and yet is an interesting piece of "found art" on it's own. So, if you're still with me, here is my question:

What is the best way to present a permanently looping image (or video) slideshow on the XO? I would love, of course, to turn the thing on, and have it launch immediately into the show (in case it get's unplugged and a gallery attendant has to reset it). But I can live with pretty much anything.

What I have tried (without much success so far):
Using a full screen Flickr Flash slideshow. That's pretty much all I know how to do at this point on a Linux based system.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give me, asap!

Images of some of the work and process that is going into the show:

feh would be a good start, and then just adding it to the startup list (I don't know where the startup list is in Sugar).

Type yum install feh, and play around with that.

I agree with the comment above about feh. I wrote this for our company wiki.

To turn your XO into a photo frame you need to down load and install a program called feh.

go to the sugar terminal, use the terminal icon, and type: (hit enter at the end of each line)

su -     [this puts you at the root so you can do a yum install]
yum install feh   [Answer "y" when prompted to install the program.]
exit      [this returns you to the sugar terminal you started with]

To use feh:
Put your jpg files on a SD card or a flash drive and plug it into the XO.
Go to the sugar terminal, use the terminal icon.
Type the following at the sugar terminal:

feh -F -D 5 --scale-down /media/SD/
[this assumes your SD card is named SD. use the name of your SD card or your USB drive in place of SD]

-F plays full screen, you need this or small pictures will be copied several times on the screen.

-D plays the slide show with the number, in this case 5, being the number of seconds to wait between slides.

Q will quit [it may take a picture or two to quit. CTRL+q will also quit]

For more information type feh --help for the help file.

It wont make it auto start but it does the rest you need. and looks really good on the XO screen.

The problem is that Fedora 7 (XO os656) and Fedora 9 (XO os 767/802) is not supported any more. However if you are running os 767/802 you can still download the feh rpm from here  and install it locally. with "rpm -ivvh filename". However, you should have all the "required" files described in the above page.
