Wondered if there was a solar panel officially endorsed by OLPC, in light of a couple of previous posts....

...and the fact that xoexplosion.com is now carrying the 5w panel - not the 10w they carried originally.

My 10w panels continue to drive me and my kids crazy. Any info much appreciated - Mark

mahlness,
I've always carried the 5W, too. Its just that I'm out of stock on the 10W at the moment.  Wink

How are the panels driving your crazy? (edit: I'm following the links now)

Well, like today the panels charged for a while, then the clouds came out so they were not charging anymore. We go to turn the laptops on to use them, and they will not turn on - until the battery is reseated.

This kind of stuff happens on a regular basis, daily.

Some not good things happen when the XO's are plugged in to the panels. Intermittently. - Mark

You might want to check out the topic "Solar panel and battery problem?" at http://olpcnews.com/forum/index.php?topic=3943.0;topicseen  to see if the symptoms match.

Specifically look at reply #7 from smithbone - 'a hardware guy at OLPC'

Good luck

Given Richard's pretty thorough answer in the other thread, your laptops are apparently in a state of overvoltage protection after your initial round of charging. I wonder if momentarily plugging the AC adapter in would snap the laptop out of overvoltage?
