Calling all Pacific Northwest XO users and OLPC interested people! I'm headed your way and am organizing two meetups for mad mesh networking and One Laptop Per Child discussions.
First up is a combined conversation around technology and nonprofits with friends of mine from both fields:
Portland to Kathmandu: What's New in Technology for Nonprofits, Development, and ReliefThen I'll be traveling to Vancouver, British Columbia, to check in on the VBCXO User Group. Canadians are just now getting their hands on XO laptops after reminding OLPC that G1G1 Canadians Are Humans, With Kids Too, and the excitement to mesh is palatable.Join tech enthusiasts from HumaniNet, N-TEN, the 501 Tech Club, and One Laptop Per Child News for conversation, technology, and fun.
Wayan Vota of OLPC News will be on hand with a new XO computer. Gregg Swanson of HumaniNet will talk to those interested about the Nepal simulation exercise in 2007, and Anna Richter of N-TEN will have a few words about the new Portland 501 Tech Club.

VBCXO User Group February MeetupAnd while I can't make it a XO meeting hat trick with a third mesh in a week, check out the SeaXO February meetup the following weekend in Seattle.

The Vancouver meetup is within walking distance of my place! If I can't make it, maybe I can mesh with the group!
Cheers,
Tony
I've suggested at my blog that Linux User Groups should volunteer to help support new owners of these computers: it would help the future of this project and help evangelize Linux itself.
Wayne,
Any chance you are going to the MACUL ( Michigan Association of Computer Users in Learning) conference in Grand Rapids Michigan in March?
Kelly,
OLPC Portland, Vancouver, and DC have filled my travel schedule for this quarter, but don't let that stop you from publicizing the XO experience at MACUL yourself.
I won't be able to make it on Saturday due to work schedule. However, I will be able to briefly contact through the xo-chat.
